There are a lot of great rock roll stories. How Neil Giraldo got the nickname Spyder isnt one of them.

For years the public only knew the name Pat Benatar, but behind it was a partnership.
Benatar was the voice and her husband and musical partner, Neil Giraldo, was the guitarist and producer.
"When Patricia and I first met we met on equal terms," says Giraldo in a call from Bangor, Maine. "We realized we were each others muse. She made me better. I made her better. We built the first band around the sound of us together."

Pat Benatar belts "Heartbreaker," Laura Owens, on an elevated platform to the far right of the stage, passionately pantomimes the song. Her face contorts and she signs and gestures as if her heart has been ripped out. Her eyes reflect the regret and anger of a woman suddenly betrayed by a man she believed to be a "dream-maker."

Its Tuesday evening and thankfully Hurricane Sandy has moved on....Weve been speaking with many friends and family who call Long Island and New York their homes. Everyone is safe, thank God......but many have suffered severe flooding and damage to their homes and businesses. The town that I grew up in, Lindenhurst, has been decimated along the shoreline. Many of my childhood friends homes are under water. Our family, residents of Massapequa and East Islip are still without power and are beginning the huge task of cleaning up after the storm, as so many others are. Spyder and I send our prayers for a quick recovery and continued strength and fortitude in the rebuilding process. God Bless.
Just a reminder to everyone that all of the victims of Hurricane Sandy are still in dire need of donations, volunteers, etc. We know the Red Cross is on site but the need for help and supplies is massive! Please help spread the word with Spyder and me and lets keep everyone aware of this massive tragedy!! PLEASE donate what you can and keep everyone in your prayers!!

Back in the 80s, when MTV actually played music videos and wasnt flooded with heavily-scripted reality TV shows, Pat Benatar ruled the network. She made waves with the her vocal range, skintight leggings and electric eye makeup in "You Better Run" -- the second video to play on MTV. But for someone who had the rockstar image down pat from the start, including sporting the no-pants look decades before Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj, it all came together by coincidence.
